Aaron Davis Hall Theater for the Performing Arts / Gatehouse Theater, Harlem, New York
GC: M. A. Angeliades, Inc., Long Island, NY Architect: Wank Adams Slavin Associates/Ohlhausen DuBois Architects, Joint Venture
The Aaron Davis Hall Theater/Gatehouse Theater project involved the re-creation of 25 cast iron windows, casings and transoms in this landmark building. The windows and transoms were exact replicas of the originals including the multicolored art glass glazed into each frame. Allen Architectural Metals was also responsible for all of the hardware to make each window functional and for the screen coverings and grilles for the windows. These window assemblies were completely fabricated and glazed, then shipped and installed at The Gatehouse Theater in units. The final addition of these multi-colored windows allows a spectrum of color and light to flood this classical theater.
